Public beta

Free during the beta.

Every feature, nothing to pay, for as long as the beta runs: a month to start with, longer if it needs it. Use it for real work and tell us what breaks.

In plain words

What the beta is.

No small print that contradicts the big print.

  1. Every feature, free.

Capture, markup, recording, the video editor, Grab Text, Smart Redact and step guides. Nothing locked, nothing watermarked, and no card to enter.

  2. A month, maybe more.

The beta runs for at least a month. Each beta build carries its end date, and the About box shows it. If the beta is extended, an update moves the date on.

  3. Then a paid app.

Snappington will become a paid app after the beta. The price isn’t set yet. Beta testers will hear first.

  4. Your files stay yours.

If you don’t continue, the app still opens, views and exports everything you made. Captures are plain .snpt files in a folder on your disk: unzip one and the PNGs and JSON are there.

  5. Tell us what breaks.

Report a problem from inside the app, or write to hello@snappington.app. A report shows you everything it will send before you send it.

Beta list

Hear it first.

When the beta is extended, when it ends, and what Snappington will cost afterwards: people on the list hear before anyone else.

FAQ

Beta questions.

Anything else: hello@snappington.app.

What does the beta cost?

Nothing. There’s no card to enter, so nothing can be charged, now or when the beta ends. If you want to keep using Snappington once it becomes a paid app, you’ll choose whether to pay for it then.

How long does the beta last?

At least a month. Each beta build has an end date built in, shown in the About box. If the beta is extended, the next update carries a later date; Snappington tells you when an update is ready.

What happens when the beta ends?

A beta build whose end date has passed opens in read-only mode: you can open, view, search and export everything you made, but not make new captures or edits. Installing a newer version lifts that. Your files never leave your disk either way.

What will Snappington cost after the beta?

That isn’t decided yet. People on the beta list will hear first, before the price appears anywhere else.

Do I have to sign up to download it?

No. The download is open to anyone. The beta list is only for people who want the emails.

Can I use the beta at work?

Yes. It’s a beta, though: keep copies of anything you can’t afford to lose, and read the beta terms.

What does the beta send over the internet?

It checks for updates, which you can turn off. Problem and crash reports go only when you press Send, after showing you what’s in them. Anything else happens only when you ask for it: uploads to destinations you set up, models you agree to download, and AI you connect with your own key. Privacy

Is there a Mac version?

Not yet. The beta is for Windows 10 and 11, and macOS is on the way.
